About Me

My photo
Ellen Roddick
Luckily for me, being bipolar has never interfered with wonderful friendships, and I have always been able to lead an interesting life and maintain long-term relationships. As a child, I was dragged from doctor to doctor in a vain attempt to find out why I occasionally had such severe stomach aches that I couldn't stand up. From teenage years on, at Wellesley College, and during a privileged and interesting adult life that included two husbands and one child as well as handsome homes in fascinating places, I was plagued by mood swings and suicidal impulses. Finally I find what I needed: a diagnosis of, and medication for, bipolar disorder 2. And I'm glad to know that bipolar people are often creative. For example: Bipolar people often are creative and successful. For example: Buzz Aldrin, Jim Carrey, Rapper "DMX", Robert Downey Jr., Carrie Fisher, Stephen Fry, Jimi Hendrix, Jesse Jackson Jr., Patrick Kennedy, Hugh Laurie, Madonna, Steve Martin, Jack Nicholson, Sinéad O'Connor, Robert Pattinson, Jane Pauley, Ben Stiller, Sting, Mark Twain, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Robin Williams, Virginia Woolf, Catherine Zeta Jones.
